About Sumbul Sajjad
Textural, nature-led paintings inspired by Australian natives and tropical foliage—bold colour, sculptural impasto, and intuitive mark-making that invite immersion.
Artist statement
Painting as a way to feel nature
My work begins with observation—native blooms, seed pods, and the rhythm of tropical leaves—then moves into intuition. I build surface slowly, letting colour and texture carry the emotion of the subject.
Each piece is designed to live well in real spaces: to hold presence from across the room and reveal sculptural detail up close.
What defines the work
Bold colour. Heavy texture. Quiet confidence.
From first sketch to final varnish, I focus on composition, materiality, and the way a painting changes a room.
Sculptural impasto surfaces
Palette-knife layers create depth, shadow, and a tactile finish that rewards close viewing.
Nature as emotional experience
Australian natives and tropical influence used to evoke mood—not just depict a subject.
How commissions work
Commissions are collaborative and clear. We start with your space, preferred palette, and the feeling you want the work to bring—then confirm size, timeline, and budget.
You’ll receive a quote before anything begins, plus progress updates as the surface and composition develop. The goal is a piece that feels personal and sits beautifully in your home or project.
